BASF Mexicana SA awarded ICA Fluor Daniel a contract to build a $53 million plant to make polymers at Altamira, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

HOUSTON, Oct. 9 -- BASF Mexicana SA awarded ICA Fluor Daniel a contract to build a $53 million plant to make BASF's Styrolux polymer at Altamira, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

ICA Fluor Daniel, Aliso Viejo, Calif., is the industrial engineering partnership of ICA and Fluor Corp. Empresas ICA Sociedad Controladora, SA is Mexico's largest construction and engineering company.

The 21-month contract includes engineering, procurement, construction, and assistance to commissioning and performance test.

Styrolux is the trademark for the BASF range of thermoplastic styrene-butadiene copolymers used in a variety of products, particularly food packaging.
