Well to increase oil output 30% at Siri field in Danish North Sea

Statoil said Friday the latest well at Siri field on the Danish continental shelf will produce around 10,000 b/d, increasing field output 30%.

HOUSTON, Sept. 28 -- Statoil said Friday it has found more oil at Siri field on the Danish continental shelf.

It was production testing appraisal well 5604/20-7 via the Siri platform. The well produced at the rate of 23,270 b/d. When it comes on stream, the well will produce around 10,000 b/d, increasing Siri field output 30%.

The appraisal well was spudded after oil was proven in another well, Siri-4, in Palaeocene sands in an area east of the field.

The latest hole was drilled to 6,898 TMD.

Statoil has applied to the Danish authorities to produce the well when tests are completed.

Siri licensees are Statoil 40%, Enterprise Oil Ltd. 20%, Danish Oil and Gas Co. 20%, Phillips Petroleum Co. 12.5%, and Denerco 7.5%.
