HOUSTON, Aug. 8 -- Valero Energy Corp. is taking down for unscheduled repairs a 62,000 b/d fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit at its Houston oil refinery.

It expects the repairs to take 8 days, beginning Thursday.

That time will be used to repair the FCC's faulty electrostatic precipitator, officials told OGJ Online on Wednesday.

Other segments of the 124,000 b/d refinery will continue operations, and arrangements have been made to supply customers during that downtime, they said.
