HOUSTON, August 2 -- Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., Calgary, said a recently drilled well in the Ladyfern area of British Columbia is capable of producing more than 100 MMcfd from the Slave Point formation.
The d-74-G/94-H-1 well, CNRL said, is similar in productive capability to the c-82-G/94-H-1 well, tested in May at 150 MMcfd.
Ladyfern came on stream May 17 (OGJ Online, June 18, 2001). Production from the area is limited by pipeline capacity; the c-82-G/94-H-1 well is producing only 55 MMcfd.
However, the company is building additional processing and pipeline capability. Gas production from Ladyfern is expected to increase to 100 MMcfd by early September, to 140 MMcfd by late September, and to just under 200 MMcfd by December 2001.
Additional volumes will be added in 2002 as more wells are completed. Increased pipeline capacity into Alberta is expected by April.
CNRL has spent $40 million on the Ladyfern area to date, including seismic acquisition. It expects to spend $78 million on the area in 2001 alone.
The company said its 100% interest in 30,000 acres of undeveloped land in the Ladyfern area offers "numerous opportunities for additional development."
