HOUSTON, Aug. 1 -- Apache Corp. said Wednesday it has a gas discovery on Eugene Island Block 187 in the Gulf of Mexico.
It also completed a strong development well at its South Timbalier 295 platform. Both are on production.
The Eugene Island new fault block discovery tested at the rate of 9.6 MMcfd of gas and 184 b/d of oil on a 20/64-inch choke with 4,500 psi flowing tubing pressure. Apache has 100% of the prospect.
The directionally-drilled JD 2 was drilled to 18,994 ft TD and perforated at 16,500-60 ft MD in the U sand. It logged 71 ft of net gas pay in three other zones.
Apache said the A-10ST was directionally drilled from the South Timbalier 295 platform to the adjacent 276 Block. It flowed 9 MMcf of gas and 669 b/d of oil on a 14/64-inch choke with 7,300 psi of flowing tubing pressure.
Perforations were between 14,506-26 ft MD in the L-68 sand. The well logged an additional 140 ft of net oil pay in seven other sands. It was drilled to 15,378 ft TD. Apache owns a 94.6% and the rest is held by a partnership that Apache manages.
