Statoil awards Gullfaks A gas treatment expansion contract to Kværner

Statoil AS has awarded a 380 million kroner ($41.3 million) contract to Kværner ASA unit Kværner Oil & Gas to boost gas treatment capacity on the Gullfaks A platform in the North Sea. The deal is part of the Gullfaks satellites phase II project, which will develop gas reserves in the Gullfaks South and Rimfaks satellite fields.

HOUSTON, July 25 -- Statoil AS has awarded a 380 million kroner ($41.3 million) contract to Kværner ASA unit Kværner Oil & Gas to boost gas treatment capacity on the Gullfaks A platform in the North Sea.

The deal is part of the Gullfaks satellites phase II project, which will develop gas reserves in the Gullfaks South and Rimfaks satellite fields. All are on Block 34/10.

It will boost gas exports from the platform by 4 million cu m/day starting Oct. 1, 2003, said Statoil.

Design work will begin immediately. Offshore modifications will begin at the beginning of 2002 and continue to the autumn of 2003.

Committed gas deliveries from the Phase II project will begin Oct. 1 at 10 million cu m/day. The volume will increase to 17 million cu m in 2003, with 4 million passing through the A platform.
