HOUSTON, July 18 -- Norsk Hydro AS has awarded Coflexip Stena Offshore Norge AS a letter of intent for an 80 million euro ($68.4 million) engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for a development in the North Sea.

Fram Vest field is 20 km north of the Troll C platform in 1,180 ft of water.

Under the proposed contract, Coflexip Stena would design, procure, fabricate, and install two 10-in. flexible risers, one multibore riser, and one dynamic service umbilical riser, each 800 m, as well as two rigid 12-in. and 13-in. flowlines for a total length of 50 km.

It would also install 25 km of static service umbilicals.

The installation of the system is expected in summer 2003.

CSO would manufacture the flexible risers at its plant in Le Trait, France, while the CSO spoolbase at Orkanger, Norway, would create the rigid flowlines.
