HOUSTON, July 24 -- Noble Affiliates Inc., through subsidiary Samedan Vietnam Ltd., has tested gas at its Swan prospect on Block 12W off Viet Nam.

The well, 12W-TN-1X, is in 260 ft of water 230 miles southeast of Ho Chi Minh City in the Nam Con Son basin. It was drilled to 14,626 ft TD and flowed 20 MMcfd of gas with 150 b/d of condensate from a perforated interval of 131 ft during a drillstem test at 12,884 ft in the Upper Oligocene Cau.

Noble said further evaluation, including the possibility of a 3D seismic survey and a confirmation well, will be needed to determine if the find is commercial.

Noble signed a production sharing contract Nov. 22, 2000, with Vietnam Oil & Gas Corp. (PetroVietnam) covering a 567,000-acre block. Noble is operator with a 60% working interest and Delek Energy Vietnam and OPECO Natural Gas Ltd. hold the balance. PetroVietnam can participate with a 15% working interest in any developments.

Noble Affiliates and its two partners also own an interest in adjacent Block 12E. Together, the two blocks cover 1.7 million acres. It plans to drill on the Block 12E Lark prospect next.
