HOUSTON, July 17 -- Harken Energy Corp., Houston, received final regulatory permits and rights of way from Louisiana officials for installation of a natural gas production line from its Cenac No. 1 well, company officials said Tuesday.
The well, in Terrebonne Parish in southern Louisiana, tested at its completion in April at more than 10 MMcfd of gas and more than 400 b/d of condensate with no water production. Harken is operator with a 27% working interest.
The Cenac No. 1 well is in the company's Lapeyrouse prospect area. Harken holds surrounding acreage targeted for further exploration and development. The company has identified six additional exploration prospects in this area.
Since completion of the well, Harken has been working to design the flow line and obtain necessary state and regulatory permits for installation of a pipeline. The flow line will extend about 2 miles to connect the well to the nearby Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline system.
Harken anticipates it will take about 5 weeks for construction and installation of the pipeline and necessary production facilities. Company officials anticipate the Cenac No. 1 well will be on production by Aug. 31.
"We are very anxious to get the Cenac No. 1 well into production and see what levels of gas and condensate sales this impressive well will sustain. Assuming the Cenac No. 1 well produces as its initial tests indicated, it could be expected to add approximately $2 million in annual revenues to Harken during its first year," said Harken Chairman Mikel D. Faulkner.
