French company Maurel & Prom drilled M'Boundi-1 well on the Kouilou license off Congo (Brazzaville) to 2,124 m, said partner Heritage Oil Corp., Calgary. The well, 20 km north of Kouakouala field, apparently found a 125-m oil column in the primary target Vandji sands.

The CACT Operators Group has awarded Kværner AS a front-end engineering design contract for the Huizhou 19-3 development off China. Over 3 months, Kværner will design the production platform topsides, 30 km of insulated pipeline, existing platform modifications, and 35 km of composite power/fiber optic control cable.

Eurogas Corp., Calgary, said Douz No. 1 well in south central Tunisia was dry. It will be abandoned. Two other wells are planned in the area.

Repsol-YPF Exploracion Peru, an affiliate of Repsol-YPF SA, plans to conduct a 2D seismic survey on Block 34 in the Ucayali basin in Peru.

Remington Oil & Gas Corp., Dallas, has drilled Eugene Island 302 No. 1 well to 10,694 ft MD and found 103 ft of pay in two Pleistocene sands, said permit partner Magnum Hunter Resources Inc., Irving, Tex. Pipe was run, and the well was mud line suspended. The well is in 225 ft of water 140 miles southwest of New Orleans. A production facility will be installed; production is expected in the second quarter 2002.

Petroleo Brasileiro SA said well 1-BRSA-BAS drilled in the block BCAM-40, Camamu basin, Bahia state, found gas in Agua Grande and Sergi zones. Tests will be conducted this week. The well is in 38 m of water 10 km off Bahia's coast.
