China's crude oil production in the first half of this year rose by 0.86% on year to 81.84 million tonnes, with output in June up 3.65% to 13.61 million tonnes. Gas production during the period was 14.68 billion cu m, up 9.4% on year, with output in June up 14.6% on year to 2.499 billion cu m.

Ocean Oil Construction & Services Ltd. has awarded Prosafe ASA a 1-year contract with for use of the semisubmersible service rig Safe Lancia at Cantarell field off Mexico. The bareboat contract is worth $12.3 million. The contract begins Aug. 1. Safe Lancia has been at Cantarell since 1998.

Shell Exploration & Production Co. has awarded Chiles Offshore Inc. two 9-month contract extensions for use of jack ups Chiles Magellan and Chiles Columbus in the Gulf of Mexico.

Parker Drilling Co.'s Rig 216 is en route to Kazakhstan. It is the third of three land rigs Parker is contributing to the six-rig SaiPar joint venture under long-term contract with Karachaganak Petroleum Operating BV.

Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co., a subsidiary of Helmerich & Payne Inc., has awarded Gardner Denver Inc., Quincy, Ill., a $7 million order for drill pumps.
