Development work awarded for Lakshmi field off India

Partners in Lakshmi field off India have awarded a consortium of Australian company Clough Engineering and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. of South Korea an $80 million contract to develop the field.

HOUSTON, July 10 -- Partners in Lakshmi field off India have awarded a consortium of Australian company Clough Engineering and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. of South Korea an $80 million contract to develop the field.

Clough, a unit of the Clough group, will be responsible for all onshore work for Lakshmi, including the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a gas treatment plant. Hyundai will undertake the offshore segment of the contract.

The plant will contain two process trains, each with 75MMscfd of capacity.

Work will begin immediately and first gas is expected in June 2001. Completion is due in September 2002.

Partners in the field, 260 km north of Bombay in the Gulf of Cambay, are Cairn Energy India Pty. Ltd., Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd., and Tata Petrodyne Ltd.

Clough also has a contract from Cairn Energy Ltd. to expand Ravva field in the Bay of Bengal.
