HOUSTON, June 20 -- Tricor Refining LLC has purchased the 12,500-b/d Golden Bear Oil Specialties Inc. refinery in Bakersfield, Calif.

Tricor is an acquisition entity formed by Ergon Inc. 50%, San Joaquin Refining Inc. 25%, and Tricor Energy LLC 25%/

Other assets included in the sale are a tank farm and an asphalt terminal at Arden, Nev. Copperstate Emulsions Inc., a subsidiary of Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions Inc., will buy the asphalt terminal from Tricor Refining.

The sale is expected to close on or before July 27.

Ergon Inc., Jackson, Miss., is a privately held corporation. Its engineered products and services group includes operations as a refiner, transporter, producer, distributor, and marketer of petroleum products. The manufactured products group makes and markets various products.

San Joaquin Refining, Inc. is an independent refiner with manufacturing, sales and support operations in Bakersfield. It has a 24,300-b/d refinery there that specializes in asphalt, fuels, naphthenic base oils, process oils, and specialty markets.

Tricor Energy LLC is a privately held crude oil producer in the San Joaquin Valley.

Golden Bear, Los Angeles, has been making naphthenic oils and extender oils, as well as asphalt products, since 1938 at its Bakersfield refinery.
