Petroplus reports brief fire at Antwerp refinery

HOUSTON, June 12 -- Petroplus International NV, Amsterdam, announced the reformer unit is down at the 65,000 b/d refinery in Antwerp, Belgium, following a brief fire Monday that caused no injuries and no danger to the environment.

The fire, which lasted 15 min., was extinguished by the company's fire brigade along with the fire brigade of Nynas Petroleum NV, which operates an adjacent refinery. The city of Antwerp also provided assistance.

Cause of the fire and the extent of damage was under investigation Tuesday. Petroplus International focuses on the European midstream oil market. Its core activities are refining, marketing, and storage.
