LIMA, June 26 -- Peruvian state oil agency Perupetro said oil companies are visiting its data room for information on redesignated blocks.
The agency declined to say which companies are reviewing the information.
Perupetro is promoting the former Madre de Dios block, where Exxon Corp., Mobil Corp., and Elf Aquitaine made an uncommercial gas find, and three blocks adjacent to the 13-tcf, 620 million bbl condensate Camisea natural gas fields in the Ucayali basin and.
Perupetro is offering a development license for Block 56, where a Royal Dutch/Shell Group-Mobil consortium found gas with Pagoreni well on the Camisea trend, and exploration and development licenses for Block 57, northwest of Camisea, and Block 58, west of Camisea.
The Madre de Dios block, now Block 76, contained the 1998 Candamo 1X well. Perupetro revealed that site has been incorporated into a natural reserve.
Peru will negotiate with bidders for the blocks directly unless more than one bid is issued for a single block. If that happens, a bid round is set for between September and December.
Production from Camisea is expected by early 2004.
