LONDON, June 12 -- Kværner AS has clinched offshore contracts from Australia's Woodside Energy Ltd., and Santa Fe International Corp. worth a total $29 million, the Anglo-Norwegian contractor reported Tuesday.

Under an $11 million deal with Woodside, Kværner will supply a subsea production system for phase 2 of the operator's Laminaria development on Block AC/L5 in the Timor Sea off Australia (OGJ Online, May 15, 2001). The scope of work includes Christmas trees, controls, chokes, and connection systems as well as support services.

Kværner, which delivered the subsea equipment for the offshore development's first phase, will manage the phase 2 project from its Belmont facility in Western Australia with input from plants in Houston, Aberdeen, and Oslo.

Meanwhile, under an $18 million contract for Santa Fe, Kværner will fabricate and supply two complete Clip Riser systems for the drilling contractor's newbuild semisubmersibles. The riser systems, to be delivered in May and November 2002, will be equipped for dual-density drilling, with a booster line that can handle a working pressure of 5,000 psi.

Santa Fe has the option to order a third riser system in the first quarter.

The Clip Riser system, which uses breech-lock type connectors and does not require any threading, bolting, or preloading, is designed to reduce the operating costs linked to tripping and weather delays.
