Enterprise Oil do Brasil ... Cal Dive International ... Amfels Shipyard ... Norsk Hydro ... Procon Drilling Services

Enterprise Oil do Brasil Ltda. and its partners in deepwater Bijupirá and Salema fields off Brazil issued a letter of intent to Halliburton Energy Services, a unit of Halliburton Co., for the provision of sand control equipment and services for the fields. The contract would be worth $9.1 million.

Cal Dive International Inc. decided to add completions capability to its Q4000 ultradeepwater multiservice vessel, now under construction at the Amfels Shipyard in Brownsville, Tex. It reached a preliminary agreement with Amfels to enhance the vessel, now in a late phase of construction, for $30 million. CDI cited a shortage of rigs able to work in the ultradeep as a reason for the decision. CDI is seeking approval from the US Maritime Administration, which is providing funding for the vessel.

Norsk Hydro AS exercised an option for the use of the modularised drilling and intervention rig Rubicon on the Snorre TLP. The rig is owned and operated by Procon Drilling Services AS. The 1-year extension, starting Aug. 15, is worth 120 million Norwegian kroner ($13.1 million). This is the first of two such options available under the contract.
