HOUSTON, June 29 -- Colorado Interstate Gas, a subsidiary of El Paso Corp., has begun an open season for a pipeline to transport gas from the Cheyenne Hub in northeastern Colorado to Mid-Continent pipeline markets near Greensburg, Kan.

Colorado Interstate proposes to build a 380-mile, 30-in. pipeline with 17,000-hp compression with 540,000 dekatherms/day capacity.

The company said the project accesses all the Rocky Mountain supply basins at the Cheyenne Hub. It will pass by Colorado Interstate's market area storage near Fort Morgan, Colo.

The proposed line would connect near Greensburg with ANR Pipeline, Panhandle Pipeline, Northern Natural Gas Pipeline, Natural Gas Pipeline Co., and Williams with an estimated takeaway capacity of approximately 6.8 bcf/day.

The open season will close July 20. If approved, the project could be in service in late 2003.
