BANGKOK, June 29 -- Carigali-Triton Operating Co. has deferred the production start-up of Cakerawala field in the South China Sea by a few months beyond the original mid-2002 schedule.
Cakerawala is on Block A-18 in the Joint Development Area between Thailand and Malaysia. Once on stream, it will deliver 390 MMcfd of gas.
The delay was advised by the gas buyers, Malaysian state oil company Petronas and Petroleum Authority of Thailand.
The Thai government is working to resolve difficulties for the proposed Thai-Malaysian pipeline, which would carry Cakerawala gas.
Local opposition to the line is strong, especially from villagers and environmentalists in Songkhla (OGJOnline, Jan 5, 2001).
