HOUSTON, June 28 -- GTL Bolivia SA has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rentech Inc., Denver, to use its proprietary gas-to-liquids technology.

After execution of a licensing agreement, GTLB will begin designing a 10,000-b/d gas-to-liquids plant to be built in Bolivia.

Although the agreement is not yet finalized, the MOU indicates a license fee of about $1,000/b/d, said Rentech. The Denver company also said the final license agreement could grant GTLB the right to operate an additional 50,000 b/d.

Rentech Chairman, Pres. and CEO Dennis L. Yakobson said, "Bolivia offers a unique opportunity to deploy GTL. Indigenous supplies of natural gas exceed the country's demand, and at the same time, there is an insufficient local supply of transportation fuels such as diesel. A 10,000 b/d GTL plant in Bolivia could make an important contribution to that country."

GTLB is a new company whose principal shareholder is the Deane Group, a private US company that operates business ventures owned by Disque D. Deane.
