Texas Petrochemicals LP, Houston, announced a May 13 incident at its plant caused one of two dehydro units to go out of service. The unit, expected to be operational by the end of the month, converts isobutane to isobutylene, used to manufacture methyl tertiary butyl ether and specialty isobutylenes.
Arak Petrochemicals, signed a contract with Technip SA Paris, yo revamp and upgrade its cracker at Arak, Iran. Technip CEO Daniel Valot told the Iran Petrochemical Forum that the project will expand cracker capacity from 247,000 tonnes/year to 310,000 tonnes/year. All the work will be completed within 24 months.
