Westcoast Energy AEC Oil & Gas El Paso Natural Gas Co. Transwestern Pipeline

The Canadian National Energy Board approved Westcoast Energy Inc.'s application to purchase a 42-mile, 12-in. gas pipeline and associated facilities from AEC Oil & Gas Co. Ltd., Calgary. The deal was first announced last year (OGJ Online, Nov. 16, 2000).

El Paso Natural Gas Co., a subsidiary of El Paso Corp. said it received 127 responses requesting a total of 9.7 bcfd of capacity on its existing gas pipeline system in an open season from Mar. 2 to Mar. 23. If these expressions of interest translate into sufficient binding commitments, the company is willing to expand its system, said a spokeswoman.

Transwestern Pipeline Co. (TW), a unit of Enron, plans to install compression at four existing stations in Arizona to boost gas deliveries to California. The company said it filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to expand its system by 150 MMcfd of incremental firm capacity. TW's total capacity to the California border will increase to 1.24 bcfd. The $93 million project is expected to be in service by June 2002.
