LIMA, Apr. 19 -- Pluspetrol Peru Corp., Argentina, on behalf of the other partners in the Camisea development project, has selected Environmental Resources Management Group (ERM), UK, to perform three environmental impact studies.

ERM will study seismic surveys, well drilling, and the construction of facilities.

The Pluspetrol consortium, which includes US company Hunt Oil Co. and South Korean company SK Corp., won the contract to develop the gas fields last year.

Proven reserves, according to latest figures provided by Perupetro, the state oil agency, include 8.7 tcf of natural gas and 545 million bbl of gas liquids from the Cashiriari and San Martin wells.

ERM, which won the contract in a bid held by the Pluspetrol consortium, previously completed EIAs in the Camisea region for Shell Prospecting & Development (Peru) BV, the operator in partnership with Mobil Exploration and Producing Peru -- a unit of ExxonMobil Corp. -- that evaluated the Camisea fields between May 1996 and July 1998.
