LONDON, Apr. 9�Greenpeace volunteers disembarked from a Sante Fe International Corp. rig conducting cementing operations for BG International PLC at its UK North Sea Blake field Saturday, after BG obtained an injunction against the environmental group.
A spokesman for the UK operator said that the Court of Session in Edinburgh had issued an injunction against Greenpeace on Friday, but that the six climbers occupying the Sante Fe 135 rig had not left until noon the next day "for safety reasons."
He said the rig has resumed work at the field on Block 13/24 in the Outer Moray Firth. BG has not decided whether to take further legal action against Greenpeace.
Three of the six Greenpeace volunteers who scaled the rig Friday set up camp on one of the rig's legs in a bell-shape survival pod, while two others abseiled down the rig to paint "Oil Kills" on one of the rig's legs.
The protest came 5 days after 21 Greenpeace activists waylaid a rig under contract to Conoco Inc. in Scotland's Cromarty Firth as it prepared to begin a drilling campaign.
