HOUSTON, Apr. 19 -- Houston-based eCORP Holding LLC has disclosed details on the proposed Pipeline of New York Express project (PONY Express project) to serve gas-fired electricity generation in New York state and New England.

The project would link storage and other gas pipeline assets in central New York and Pennsylvania to gas markets in the New York metropolitan region and points east.

The pipeline would connect with the Stagecoach natural gas storage project near Owego, NY, that eCORP and affiliates are building. Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. has received a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission permit to expand its 300-Line in northern Pennsylvania and build a lateral to Stagecoach.

Although PONY is in the planning stages, eCORP said it may include building a pipeline west from Stagecoach to gas production and other gas assets near Corning, NY; a pipeline east from Stagecoach to connect with gas assets in southern New York; and a pipeline from the Tennessee lateral south into Central Pennsylvania.

Stagecoach, which is being developed in two phases, will initially be capable of delivering of up to 500 million dekatherms/day, and ultimately over 1 billion, to New York and New England markets. It initially could aggregate 13 billion dekatherms, and eventually up to 20 billion, of gas during off-peak periods and deliver it to market through the proposed pipeline during peak demand periods.
