Duke Energy plans to buy western Canada gas processor

Natural gas gatherer and processor Duke Energy Field Services Co., Denver, Thursday said a subsidiary planned to acquire Canadian Midstream Services Ltd. When the acquisition is final, Duke Energy�s gas processing capacity in western Canada will increase from 205 MMcfd to 555 MMcfd.

HOUSTON, Apr. 26 -- Natural gas gatherer and processor Duke Energy Field Services Co., Denver, Thursday said a subsidiary planned to acquire Canadian Midstream Services Ltd, Calgary.

Duke Energy Midstream Services Canada Ltd. did not disclose terms of the proposed deal. When the acquisition is final, Duke Energy�s gas processing capacity in western Canada will increase from 205 MMcfd to 555 MMcfd.

In addition to Duke Energy� existing assets in the Peace River Arch area, the acquisition will provide Duke Energy with midstream operations in three new core areas: the Brazeau River area in the foothills of Alberta, the Nevis/Fenn area in central Alberta, and the Pesh Peggo region of northeastern British Columbia.
