Questerre Beaver River Eurogas American Petroleum Institute PPL Shipyard Friede & Goldman Santa Fe International

Questerre Beaver River Inc., Calgary, brought Beaver River gas field A5 re-entry well on stream late last month at 18 MMcfd of gas, said partner Eurogas Inc., New York. The field is 100 miles northwest of Fort Nelson on the border of British Columbia and Yukon Territory. Questerre is planning the next re-entry well. At peak, the field produced more than 200 MMcfd from five wells, but the former operator closed it in 1978 due to technical problems.

Completions of US oil wells, gas wells, and dry holes increased by 63% in the first quarter 2001 compared with the same period of 2000, the American Petroleum Institute estimates. A report said 9,539 wells were completed in the first quarter. Oil well completions rose 21% and gas completions rose 106% for the quarter.

PPL Shipyard Pte. Ltd. has awarded a contract to Friede & Goldman Ltd. to design two jack up rigs to be built by PPL for Santa Fe International Corp.
