HOUSTON, Mar. 30�The Texas Railroad Commission said Thursday that requests for oil and gas well records, production reports, geological data, and research information can now be made through the agency web site.
TRC said parties can contact the commission at www.rrc.state.tx.us to obtain information on its 132 million pages of documents collected for more than 1 million wells in 68,000 oil and gas fields. The records kept by the commission track the history of each Texas oil and gas well.
"No longer do you have to make a long distance call or travel to Austin to obtain information from the railroad commission," said Commissioner Charles Matthews. "With a simple click of the mouse, anyone can request records and technical information valuable in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas."
In addition to well records and data, parties can request hearing files from 1920 to the present, including new field designation, statewide rules, docketed hearings, field rules, and fluid injection hearings.
Also available are the proceedings and findings of commission hearings, as well as the engineering data, well logs, cross-sections, maps, plats, and other information.
Not available is data on leases and royalties, unclaimed property, investment offers, bankruptcy cases, or municipalities.
TRC said requests would be processed in the order received. Upon completion of each request, persons will be notified of any charges.
