Repsol-YPF discovers three fields off Indonesia

Repsol-YPF SA Wednesday announced the discovery of three oil and gas fields on West Madura Block, off Java, Indonesia. Three exploration wells, KE23-1, KE13-1, and KE24-1, were drilled in separate structures in Kujung limestone.

�Repsol-YPF SA Wednesday announced the discovery of three oil and gas fields on West Madura Block, off Java, Indonesia.

Three exploration wells, KE23-1, KE13-1, and KE24-1, were drilled in separate structures in Kujung limestone. In tests, the discoveries produced a total of 6,300 b/d of crude and condensate and 30.1 MMcfd of gas.

Preliminary estimates of recoverable reserves for the three fields are 13 million bbl of oil and condensate and more than 153 bcf of gas. KE-23 field is expected to come on stream by the end of the third quarter.

Repsol's affiliate, YPF Madura Barat BV, is the operator with a 25% interest in the West Madura Block. Its partners are Pertamina, the Indonesian state oil company, with 50% and Kodeco Energy Co. Ltd. with 25%.
