HOUSTON, Mar. 16�Repsol YPF said it had a second oil discovery at its B-1 wildcat in the Murzuq basin 800 km south of Tripoli, Libya.
The well, the second Repsol had drilled on the 4,300 sq km Block NC-186 in the Sahara Desert, produced 1,300 b/d of 40 degree-gravity oil.
Repsol is operator on Blocks NC-186, NC-187, and NC-190 on behalf of a consortium comprising the Libyan national oil company and OMV of Austria, TotalFinaElf, and Saga Petroleum AS of Norway.
The wildcat is only 40 km from 160,000-b/d El Sharara field, which Repsol operates on Block NC-115.
Last November Repsol had a discovery at the A-1 wildcat on Block NC-186, about 30 km west of the latest discovery. A-1 flowed up to 2,500-b/d of 41degree-gravity oil.
Repsol plans three more wildcats and four appraisal wells on the block this year.
