Foxboro gets Saudi gas plant automation contract

JGC Corp. and Technip SA, as turnkey contractors for Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco), have awarded Foxboro Co. an automation contract for the Haradh gas plant.

HOUSTON, Mar. 30�JGC Corp. and Technip SA, as turnkey contractors for Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco), have awarded Foxboro Co. an automation contract for the Haradh gas plant.

The worth of the contract was not disclosed, but Foxboro called it "multimillion-dollar."

Foxboro will supply and implement a control system, a safety system, vibration monitoring systems, an operator training simulator, and a maintenance training system.

Foxboro will also provide transmitters and implement its gas plant applications, including compressor controls and advanced process control.

Foxboro and parent Invensys PLC have participated in three other Saudi Aramco gas plant projects: Shedgum, Uthmaniyah, and Shaybah.

Foxboro said JGC is responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of the 1.6 bcfd gas plant in Haradh, Saudi Arabia, while Technip has responsibility for all utility and offsites areas.
