HOUSTON, Mar. 9�The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has granted Central New York Oil & Gas Co. LLC permission to build, own, and operate a 12 bcf natural gas storage project near Oswego, NY.
The Stagecoach project�s maximum injection rate would be 250,000 dekatherms/day and its maximum withdrawal rate 500,000 dekatherms/day.
CNYOG applied to build the storage facility in 1999. The company, an affiliate of Houston-based eCORP Holding LLC, will proceed with the project immediately. Injection service is expected to begin in late summer.
"ECORP has been at the forefront advocating the need for improvements to our country's energy infrastructure, especially in highly populated market regions like the Northeast, where energy consumption is steadily increasing," said John F. Thrash, CEO and president of eCORP.
ECORP Marketing LLC, another eCORP affiliate, has subscribed to all the available firm storage capacity in the Stagecoach project. The company selected NJR Energy Services Co. to provide storage marketing, transportation management, and gas trading management and consultation services in connection with the Stagecoach project.
Another eCORP affiliate, Twin Tier Power LLC, is developing a 520-Mw gas-fueled power generation project that will be directly connected to the Stagecoach project.
ECORP said its business plan involves the development of similar natural gas storage and power generation projects at strategic locations throughout the US and Canada.
