HOUSTON, Mar. 22Enichem SPA awarded a turnkey contract to Technip SA of Paris to revamp instrumentation and automation at its ethylene plant at Porto Torres, Sardinia, Italy.

The lump sum contract, valued at 8 million euros, covers basic and detail engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up. The work will be completed without any major shutdown of the plant, officials said.

Completion of the work is scheduled for April 2002, while start-up will be completed by December 2002, they said Thursday.

Enichem also awarded a contract to Technip earlier this year for revamping of LPG storage facilities in Cagliari. Other work that Technip has done for Enichem in the last 2 years included reinstrumentation and automation projects for the power and ethylene plants at Porto Marghera, said officials.
