LONDON, Feb. 15The Singapore-registered LPG tanker Kilgas Centurion ran aground early Thursday morning off the southeast coast of England, but was not leaking, according to a report from the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The 81-m long, 2,169 gross ton vessel was en route from Teesport to the Thames when the accident occurred north of Yarmouth. It was carrying 1,025 tonnes of liquid propane gas, 155 tonnes of diesel fuel, and 45 tonnes of gasoil.

Steve Horn, deputy district controller of the Yarmouth Coastguard, said a rescue team had been sent to monitor Kilgas Centurion, noting that there "is presently no danger to the crew on board, and there are no plans to evacuate them from the vessel.

"Fortunately no leaks have been reported, and the area upon which she has grounded is very sandy," said Horn. "The seas are flat calm this morning with no wind and no cloud, but there are banks of fog locally."

Horn added that the Marine Accident Investigation Branch was informed of the incident.
