HOUSTON, Feb. 13Centurion Energy International Inc., Calgary, plans to bring its El Wastani field on the El Manzala concession in Egypt on stream midyear.

El Manzala concession, in which Centurion owns 100%, covers 420,000 acres in Egypt. The company is concentrating on El Wastani and Abu Monkar as core areas.

El Wastani will begin production at 12 MMcfd of gas and 300 b/d of condensate from two wells.

Approval for the field's plan of development and gas sales agreement were received in November, said Centurion. Construction of the pipeline is expected to begin in April.

Production from the Abu Monkar area is expected in midyear 2002.

The company expects to drill at least three more wells on the concession and possibly four more by 2002.

East El Wastani will be spudded in April; an option well south of East El Wastani field is planned later in the year, and a second option well, El Wastani No. 3, is scheduled to spud in the fourth quarter following completion of a seismic acquisition program now underway.

The second well, Gelgel No. 1, will spud in July in the southern part of the El Manzala concession. Gelgel No. 1 is 20 km northwest of the discovery well Abu Monkar No. 1.

The third well, Abu Fasada, will be spudded after work is complete on Gelgel No. 1.

Two option wells could be drilled in the Abu Monkar area pending drilling results from Gelgel.

Success on any one well when added to the Abu Monkar #1 reserves would enhance the economics to construct a pipeline to tie into the national gas grid.
