Islander East Pipeline LLC, a 50:50 joint venture between subsidiaries of Duke Energy Corp. and Keyspan Corp., has announced an open season for its proposed 40-mile gas pipeline from Connecticut to Long Island, NY. The 24-in. and 30-in. line will originate from Duke Energy unit Algonquin Gas Transmission Co.'s system and connect with KeySpan Energy Delivery Long Island's system. The system is in 135 ft of water. In October, BP awarded Global Industries a turnkey contract for off-season installation of the structures and associated diving services, as well as a contract to connect the pipelines to an existing platform also on Eugene Island 224.
