BANGKOKThai Shell Exploration & Production Co, part of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, expects to raise oil production from its S1 tract in northern Thailand this year to 24,500 b/d, up 2.7% from last year.

The company plans to maintain gas production at last year's level of 55 MMcfd plus 300 tonnes/day of LPG processed from the associated gas.

Royal Dutch/Shell Group plans to spend 80% more this yearup to $73 millionon development in Thailand than it did in 2000 (OGJ Online, Jan. 2, 2001).

The highest daily production from the Sirikit and its satellite oil fields in Kamphaeng Phet and Phitsanulok provinces was set on July 3 last year with an output of 26,740 b/d. The record was 23,500 b/d in 1992.

Thai Shell said development wells drilled last year are being put on stream this year, augmenting output from 100 older wells. Last year it drilled 23 development wells and three dry holes.

This year, Thai Shell plans 28 development wells and four exploratory wells as well as a 200 sq km 3D seismic survey on the S1 acreage.

Thai Shell owns 75% stake in the S1 concession and PTT Exploration & Production PLC, the Thai state oil concern, has 25%.
