Thai company awards ethylene plant contract

Thai Olefins Co. has selected Chiyoda Corp. and Halliburton Co. affiliate Kellogg Brown & Root to design and build its proposed 300 kilotonnes/year ethylene plant in Map Ta Phut industrial complex at Rayong, Thailand.


Thai Olefins Co. has selected Chiyoda Corp. and Halliburton Co. affiliate Kellogg Brown & Root to design and build its proposed 300 kilotonnes/year ethylene plant in Map Ta Phut industrial complex at Rayong, Thailand.

The plant, based on ethane and LPG feedstock, will be designed to use KBR's proprietary ethylene process.

The lump sum, turnkey contract includes license, basic design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services. Engineering work will take place in KBR's offices in Houston, Chiyoda's offices in Yokohama, and other regional offices.

The facility will expand production at existing ethylene facilities in Map Ta Phut.
