Petronet lets contract for Indian LNG terminal

Petronet LNG Ltd. has awarded a consortium led by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the 5 million tonne/year regassification terminal at Dahej, on the Gujarat coastline in India.


MUMBAI�Petronet LNG Ltd. has awarded a consortium led by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the 5 million tonne/year regassification terminal at Dahej, on the Gujarat coastline in India.

The consortium, whose other members are Ballast Nedam International BV of the Netherlands, Toyo Engineering India Ltd., Itochu Corp., and Mitsui Co. Ltd. won the $312 million contract.

The Dahej terminal is one of two Petronet will build to import 7.5 million tonnes/year of LNG from RasGas of Qatar.

The other terminal, which will have a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes/year, will be at Kochi, in Kerala, in the extreme south of India. The first shipment will be landed s by late 2002.

Petronet also named Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. will be project manager consultant at Dahej.
