NCRA, Farmland Industries to end joint venture

The National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA) and Farmland Industries Inc. of Kansas City, Mo., said Monday they will end their year-old Cooperative Refining LLC joint venture Dec. 31. NCRA and Farmland Industries founded the venture to jointly manage Farmland's 95,000 b/d refinery at Coffeyville, Kan., and NCRA's 80,000 b/d refinery at McPherson, Kan.


The National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA) and Farmland Industries Inc. of Kansas City, Mo., said Monday they will end their year-old Cooperative Refining LLC joint venture Dec. 31.

NCRA and Farmland Industries founded the venture in 1999 to jointly manage Farmland's 95,000 b/d refinery at Coffeyville, Kan., and NCRA's 80,000 b/d refinery at McPherson, Kan., as well as related pipelines and terminals.

The joint venture has focused on crude oil procurement, distribution, and scheduling. Physical ownership of the refineries and related assets remained with the two parent organizations.

NCRA is owned by Cenex Harvest States Cooperatives of St. Paul, Minn.; GROWMARK Inc., of Bloomington, Ill., and MFA Oil of Columbia, Mo.
