Coastal Corp.'s Rocky Mountain pipeline subsidiary Colorado Interstate Gas Co. has completed construction of the Picketwire lateral loop in the Raton basin in southern Colorado. The 20-in., 12.5 mile pipeline will transport an additional 33 thousand dekatherms/day of gas from the Raton basin to delivery points on CIG's system. CIG said the US Geological Survey estimates total coal bed methane resources in the basin at more than 18 tcf.
Torch Inc. claimed it had completed the first Gulf of Mexico simultaneous lay and bury project off a dynamically positioned barge. Ridgelake Energy Inc. awarded the contract to Torch. It also awarded the construction management contract to Projects Specialists Inc. Torch's Midnight Eagle, which was fitted with a conventional S-Lay system, laid 10,200 ft of 4-in. pipe on Main Pass 59 in 70 ft of water over 2 days.
TransMountain PipeLine Co. and Canadian crude oil producers have signed a second 6-year tolling agreement covering shipments from Edmonton, Ata., to Vancouver, BC. The current 5-year incentive tolling deal expires Dec. 31. Under the deal, TransMountain assumes risks and rewards of changes in shipping volumes and has a larger role in managing costs of pipeline operations. The agreement is subject to National Energy Board approval.
National Fuel Gas Supply Corp. and Empire State Pipeline, an intrastate pipeline owned by subsidiaries of Coastal Corp. and Westcoast Energy Inc., said Monday it has completed a new pipeline interconnection in Pendleton, NY, in Niagara County. The interconnect consists of 4 miles of 16-in. line designed to move up to 150 MMcfd of gas into a National Fuel gas line.
Williams said last week that it has placed its $108 million SouthCoast Expansion project into service, increasing capacity on its Transco pipeline system by 204,099 dekatherms/day and providing additional firm transportation capacity for markets in Alabama and Georgia. The expansion loops 44 miles of 48-, 42- and 24-in. pipeline in Alabama and Georgia and adds 31,500 hp of compression at stations in Rockford, Ala., and Newnan, Ga.
