CALGARY�Vector Pipeline says completion of its 331-mile natural gas line will be delayed a month until December due to bad weather.
The 700 MMcfd line from Dawn, Ont., to Chicago, Ill., was originally scheduled for completion Nov. 1, but construction was delayed by heavy rains in Michigan and Indiana.
The line is 90% complete and will be filled with gas beginning in late October, said Vector.
The line will connect with the Alliance Pipeline and Northern Border pipeline systems. Capacity will be expanded to 1 bcfd late in 2001, following completion of a compressor station in Michigan.
The $4.7 billion (Can.) Alliance line from Western Canada to Chicago is scheduled to begin delivering up to 1.3 Bcfd of gas and gas liquids into the Chicago market later this month.
Enbridge Inc., Calgary, has a 45% interest in Vector; Westcoast Energy, Vancouver, BC, 30%; and MCN Energy Group Inc., Detroit, Mich., 25%.
