Partners in the Echo-Yodel gas-condensate development project on Australia's North West Shelf awarded Coflexip Stena Offshore Asia Pacific Pty. Ltd. the subsea installation contract, Coflexip Stena Offshore's Asia-Pacific subsidiary said.

The Echo-Yodel development lies in 140 m of water 23 km southwest of Woodside Energy Ltd.s Goodwyn A gas production platform. The fields are being developed using subsea facilities (OGJ Online, Sept. 20, 2000). Gas and condensate will go to Goodwyn A for processing.

The contract includes transportation and installation of a 23-km, 12-in. export pipeline, a subsea electro-hydraulic umbilical, and a new riser caisson on the Goodwyn A platform that incorporates a 12-in. production riser.

The installation will be performed by CSOs specialist reelship Apache. CSOs dynamically positioned diving support vessel CSO Venturer will be used for diving and subsea construction work.

Coflexip Stena plans to begin work immediately on detailed engineering and installation procedures, with about 40 days of offshore construction and installation scheduled to start in fourth quarter 2001.

The Echo/Yodel contract also contains options for additional work, including abandonment of some subsea wellheads and installation of the Lambert 5 and Laminaria Phase 2 subsea facilities.

The six equal participants in the North West Shelf LNG venture are: operator Woodside Energy Ltd., BHP Petroleum (North West Shelf) Pty. Ltd., BP Developments Australia Pty. Ltd., Chevron Australia Pty. Ltd., Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty. Ltd., and Shell Development (Australia) Pty. Ltd.
