On behalf of Malaysia LNG Tiga Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture of Japan Gas Corp., Kellogg Brown & Root, and Sime Engineering has awarded the Foxboro and Triconex subsidiaries of Invensys PLC, London, a contract to provide advanced process control systems and services for two LNG trains to be added as part of the third expansion phase at the LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak. Foxboro (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. will provide the process control systems integration and distributed control systems for Trains 7 and 8, and Triconex will provide the instrumented protection and fire and gas systems. The two new trains should be operational by February 2004.

Sakhalin Energy Investment Co. Ltd. has issued a letter of intent selecting Germany's Linde AG to supply coil-wound heat exchangers for precooling, liquefaction, and subcooling of natural gas for the Sakhalin LNG project. Sakhalin Energy technical advisor Shell Global Solutions International BV called for bids for the exchangers earlier this year. Linde's process engineering and contracting division will supply the heat exchangers, which will be used in the Shell double mixed refrigerant process selected for this project. Sakhalin Energy is a consortium led by Shell (62.5%), with Mitsui Corp. and Mitsubishi Corp. as partners. Shell hopes to begin selling LNG to Japan, South Korea, and other countries in the region by 2007 (OGJ Online, June 7, 2000).

Neville Chemical Co., Pittsburgh, Pa., has entered into a multiyear contract with BOC Gases, a unit of BOC Group, under which BOC will supply nitrogen to Neville's Pittsburgh hydrocarbon resins plant, Neville Island. The product will be delivered via pipeline extension from BOC's Arroyo, W.Va., air separation unit (ASU) directly to Neville Island. In addition to the pipeline supply, BOC also will maintain a liquid nitrogen backup at the Neville site and at its Arroyo ASU.
