Louisiana Land & Exploration Co. (LL&E), a wholly owned subsidiary of Houston-based Burlington Resources Inc., has awarded a $200 million-plus turnkey project to Washington Group International Inc., Boise, Ida., to expand LL&E's Lost Cabin Gas Plant facility in central Wyoming. The project will more than double the existing capacity of the plant to 180 MMcfd of gas.

Morrison Knudsen Corp. recently acquired Raytheon Co. business unit Raytheon Engineers & Constructors and, pending shareholder approval, the name of the combined company is being changed to Washington Group International (OGJ Online, July 11, 2000). Bob Wiesel, president and chief executive of subsidiary Washington Petroleum & Chemicals, said growing demand, efficient operation, and reservoir volumes have created the need for another expansion at the plant.

Washington designed and built the original Train 1 and the Train 2 expansion. "We take it as a great sign of confidence that LL&E has chosen us again for the larger Train 3 expansion,'' said Wiesel.

Washington Group will perform all phases of the project, including engineering, procurement, and construction, through its Denver office. Work is under way on the project and is scheduled for completion in 2002. Washington Group also will be responsible for testing, commissioning, and preparing the plant for start-up.

The sour gas to be processed in the plant comes from wells in the deep Madison in central Wyoming's Madden field.
