Dauphin Island Gathering Partners (DIGP), a joint venture pipeline company, said Thursday it's begun transportation service from two Gulf of Mexico projects this summer. The Dauphin Island pipeline system delivers offshore gas to the Mobile Bay Processing Partners' plant near Coden, Ala., for processing and redelivery to interstate markets.

In July, DIGP began providing gathering and transportation service on a new lateral from the Main Pass 265 platform, which connects four of Coastal Oil & Gas Corp.'s Main Pass area production blocks. Initial production of 25 MMcfd of gas is expected to increase to at least 70 MMcfd by the fourth quarter as new wells are brought on line.

DIGP also began service this summer to El Paso Production Co. and Chevron USA Production Co. from Viosca Knoll Block 385.

DIGP is operated by a subsidiary of Duke Energy Field Services LLC, a subsidiary of Charlotte, NC-based Duke Energy Corp.

Brad Reese, vice-president of Duke Energy Field Services, said DIGP's system is strategically located to connect the "burgeoning" Gulf of Mexico supply area to the rapidly developing Florida interstate projects.

Duke Energy Field Services, MCN Energy Group Inc., Coastal Dauphin Island Co. LLC., an affiliate of Coastal Corp., and Dominion Resources Inc. jointly own Dauphin Island Gathering Partners.
