LIMAPerupetro SA will present information on 25 blocks available for exploration and production contracts at the World Petroleum Congress in Calgary next month.

Included are 14 offshore blocks on the continental shelf and 11 blocks in jungle areas in the Ucayali, Maraon, Santiago, Huallaga, and Ene basins. Perupetro says it has selected previously explored areas where oil and gas prospects have been identified.

The Perupetro delegation will be led by Juan Assereto, president, and includes Miguel Celi, general manager, Oscar Miro Quesada, geologist, and Alberto Masias, consultant.

The 14 offshore blocks will be tendered in cooperation with Peru's privatization committee, according to Minister of Energy and Mines Jorge Chamot. The minister said the team organizing the tender will be the same one that "has been successful in getting [the] Camisea [tenders] going."

Perupetro SA, the state oil regulator, called a tender for the offshore blocks last August, but this was suspended soon afterwards in order to give first priority to sealing contracts for Camisea.
