PARIS�Prompted by expectations that the Polish gas market will double during the next decade, Gaz de France (GdF) and Polish Oil & Gas Co. (PGNIG) this week announced they've signed an industrial and commercial cooperation agreement. The deal calls for GdF to be closely associated with the development of natural gas and the gas industry in Poland, including gas production and electricity generation.
Upstream, the agreement provides for the joint development of gas resources in the Baltic Sea and bolsters cooperation in underground natural gas storage. The two partners also will be associated in various domestic and cross-border gas pipelines.
Downstream, the partners will undertake joint electricity and heat generation from gas. They will also initiate natural gas vehicle use, with an initial project planned in Cracovia.
GdF will provide its expertise to PGNIG for training, human resources, and commercial development, primarily in the area of marketing.
