Enterprise Products Partners LP, Houston, awarded Sunland Construction Inc., Eunice, La., a contract to build the Lou-Tex NGL Pipeline. The 12-in., 206-mile pipeline originating in Breaux Bridge, La., will connect Enterprise's NGL transportation and storage system with its Mont Belvieu, Tex., NGL and liquids complex. The pipeline will have an initial capacity of 50,000 b/d, in batch mode, for the transport of mixed NGLs and NGL products, including ethane, propane, butane, isobutane, and natural gasoline. The design will permit expansion to more than 100,000 b/d. Construction is expected to be completed by the third quarter of this year. Whomble Co., Houston, and Bayou Pipe Coating, Iberia, La., were awarded the pipe coating contracts. The pipeline will serve the Gulf Coast, which accounts for about 55% of US NGL production and 75% of demand. Enterprise provides processing, fractionation, storage, transportation, and terminaling services to NGL producers and consumers.

Dubai-based engineering and construction major Dodsal has bagged a 3.5 billion rupee ($80.5 million) project to lay a high-pressure natural gas pipeline between Hazira and Dahej in India's Gujarat state. The contract is modeled on the 15-year build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) principle and is being fully financed by Industrial Credit & Investment Corp. of India. The pipeline, to be completed in 24 months, will carry gas from Oil & Natural Gas Corp.'s Hazira terminal to the Dahej facilities of Indian Petrochemicals Corp. Ltd. This is the second pipeline system to be set up on the BOOT model in India. The first, constructed by Dodsal in 1997, transports ethylene, propylene, and naphtha between Dahej and Baroda.

Tulsa-based Williams's gas pipeline division and Duke Energy Corp., Charlotte, NC, have selected Alliance Engineering, Houston, to conduct detail engineering and design of two compressor station facilities for the Buccaneer Pipeline project. Alliance says it will work on Buccaneer compressor station No. 1 in Mobile County, Ala., and the Anclote liquids collection facility in Pasco County, Fla. Williams and Duke are jointly financing and constructing Buccaneer, which is scheduled to begin operations by early 2002.
