Aberdeen, has appointed Mike Aitkenhead group business development director.

Balmoral Group Ltd.

Aberdeen, has appointed Mike Aitkenhead group business development director. Aitkenhead has 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has returned to Balmoral following a stint with Bredero-Shaw. His efforts will initially be concentrated on the growing international deepwater market for thermal insulation and buoyancy products.

BE&K Inc.

Birmingham, Ala., has acquired M-E-I Consultants Inc., Houston, and will use it to enter the hydrocarbon sector. M-E-I has been involved in fuel distribution and blending, including both truck and rail car loading facilities. The company also provided engineering services for process control, pipelines (including compressor and pumping stations), storage and transportation, oil and gas production, automation control, and data acquisition.

Gerry L. Turner has been named vice-president and general manager of BE&K-Houston. He will be responsible for leveraging the combined capabilities of M-E-I and BE&K's engineering and contruction strengths. Initial focus will be on the upstream oil and gas market.

Turner holds a BS in civil engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA from the University of Houston. He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry, including service with Brown & Root de Venezuela, and 16 years with Fish Engineering & Construction, where he rose to become president and member of the board.

BE&K provides engineering and construction services globally to a variety of industries. It is included on Forbes magazine's list of the Top 400 Privately Held Companies in the US and is on Fortune magazine's list of Best Places to Work in America.

Aker Reinertsen

Trondheim, Norway, is a new joint venture company set up by Aker Maritime and Reinertsen AS. The partnership will target contracts for upgrading and maintenance work on installations in the offshore sector off mid-Norway. Headquartered for the time being in Reinertsen's offices in Trondheim, the new company is owned equally by the two partners.

Parker Drilling Co.

Tulsa, has announced plans to relocate its headquarters to Houston, effective summer 2001. The company has sold its US land rig assets, and will focus on Gulf of Mexico and international operations.

Parker Drilling has been headquartered in Tulsa since its founding in 1934 and employs more than 3,500 people worldwide.

Grant Prideco

The Woodlands, Tex., has elected Curtis W. Huff president and chief executive officer. Huff moved to Grant Prideco from Weatherford International, where he served as senior vice-president and general counsel and, most recently, chief financial officer.

Grant Prideco in an international manufacturer and supplier of high performance tubulars and related services used in the exploration and production of oil and gas.

Wayne, Pa., has announced appointment of Rich Rosowski as selective catalyst reduction (SCR) sales manager for the stationary source emissions control group, and Lew Wickman as sales manager for the gas processing technology group.

Rosowski has a BS in chemistry from LaSalle University and an MBA from Villanova.

Wickman holds BS and BA degrees in economics from the University of North Dakota and studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.

Johnson Mathey, a diversified global technology firm, is 180 years old. The firm has over 40 years of involvement in the gas purification field and 25 years of experience in catalytic solutions to air quality problems.

Highland Tank & Mfg. Co.

Stoystown, Pa., has appointed Gregory G. Aymong vice-president of wastewater treatment systems. Aymong will direct national and international engineering, marketing, and sales for this product line.

Aymong, who has been with Highland Tank for over 15 years, holds numerous patents for designs used for the prevention of oil and hazardous materials spills.

Highland Tank, founded in 1946, is a provider of storage and wastewater treatment tanks.

PetroCosm and NetworkOil Inc.

Houston, have announced an agreement whereby NetworkOil will be exclusive provider of oil field surplus equipment acquisition and sales services to PetroCosm in the US and Canada.

Houston, has named H. Gill Nebeker, a vice-president in the London office, and Ken Otto, a vice-president in the Houston office, to the board of directors. Nigel R.M. Cuthbert and Blake T. Eskew have been promoted to vice-president positions.

Nebeker joined Purvin & Gertz in 1986 following 14 years of experience in the oil refining, marketing, and natural gas liquids industries. He holds a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Texas.

Otto has also been with Purvin & Gertz since 1986. He holds a BS and MA in chemistry and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Texas.
